The Malta Aviation Museum Foundation, a non-profit making NGO, was set up with the purpose of establishing an Aviation Museum in Malta.
Initially, two ex.RAF Romney Huts at Ta' Qali have been transformed into phase one of the Aviation Museum Complex.
The second phase consisted of the building of a brand new hangar to house WWII aircraft, an office building and two public conveniences. This hangar, named "The Air Battle of Malta Memorial Hangar", reminds all visitors of Malta's important role during the crucial years of 1940-43.
World renowned structural engineers John Reid & Sons of U.K. were entrusted with the design and production of this hangar. The final assembly in Malta was performed by Motherwell Bridge and Elbros.
A Fund Raising Appeal has been launched to cover the cost of purchase and erection of the Air Battle of Malta Memorial Hangar (more details can be obtained by downloading the brochure below).
As soon as all funds to cover the cost of this hangar are obtained, the Malta Aviation Museum Foundation will be able to move forward to the third phase of the Museum expansion project. This phase will consist of the building of a larger 'Pentad' hangar, together with an adjacent museum building to house a museum shop, exhibition area, restaurant, administration offices and other utilities.
